On Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app during the 77th Army Day celebrations in Pune. This app, created by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, gives people the opportunity to explore India’s famous battlefields and learn about the country’s military history in a way they’ve never been able to before.
The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app is a ground-breaking digital resource for both tourists and history lovers. It offers comprehensive information about important historical locations, such as Galwan, known for the 2020 India-China clash, and Longewala, where the Indian Army achieved victory in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, are key highlights. The app also features other significant locations in India’s military history, such as Rezang La, Bum La Pass, Pangong Tso and Doklam. While these sites are often challenging to visit, they can now be explored through engaging historical stories and interactive content.
The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app is linked to a detailed website that serves as a complete guide for military tourism. It provides rich historical stories about 77 battlefield locations, helping visitors learn about India’s wartime history. The platform also features virtual tours and interactive multimedia content, making it easy to explore famous sites from home. For those who want to visit in person, the website offers all the travel information they need, including details about permits for restricted areas. This project, which combines tourism and education, is in line with the Incredible India program. The app gives users a personal look at India's military past by giving them access to places like Kibithoo and Rezang La, which are connected to the Sino-Indian conflict of 1962. The project also incorporates already-existing war memorials into the travel itinerary, such as the Dras War Memorial (Kargil War, 1999), Walong War Memorial (Battle of Walong, 1962), Tawang War Memorial, Longewala War Memorial, Operation Meghdoot War Memorial.
The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app does more than just showcase historical sites. It helps boost the economy in border areas by encouraging tourism, which leads to more demand for local services like accommodations and guided tours. It also plays a key role in preserving and passing on India’s military heritage and the sacrifices made by its armed forces. The launch of the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app is an important step in promoting military tourism in India. With its interactive features, historical details and virtual tours, the app encourages people to explore India’s military history. As part of India’s overall tourism plan, it aims to raise awareness about the sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces and also increase tourism in strategically important areas.
