A fire has reportedly broken out at Iran's Karaj nuclear power plant, according to early claims from an opposition group, as shared by Israeli media. Footage shows heavy smoke at the site. However, the cause of the fire and any possible injuries haven't been confirmed yet.
This occurs one day after an attack on the headquarters of Turkey's aviation business, TUSAS, left five people dead and fourteen injured. However, the two terrorists engaged in the attack were killed by security personnel.
For the second day in a row, Turkey has responded to the incident by attacking suspected Kurdish insurgent targets in Syria and Iraq with airstrikes. The National Intelligence Organisation utilised armed drones to target establishments associated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its affiliates.
The Israel war room took on X to inform about the attack. “Initial reports from an Iranian opposition group claim a fire has broken out at the nuclear power plant in Karaj. Regime-affiliated Iranian media is reportedly silent as images of the fire emerge,” it said in a post on X.
There have been attacks on the Karaj facility before. Following a "terrorist attack" on the plant in 2022 that was attributed to Israel, Iranian authorities moved centrifuge units to a safer location. This facility is a part of Iran's larger nuclear program, which has recently come under international investigation.
