The report of the fact-finding committee, which was established to look into the claims of discrimination and forced conversion at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University was made public yesterday, November 14, at a press conference. The committee was chaired by Justice (retd) SN Dhingra and former Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava.
The committee revealed that nearly all of the witnesses testified to the bigotry and discrimination against non-Muslims at JMI, regardless of whether they were students or staff members, according to reports. According to a non-Muslim assistant professor, she has been subjected to harassment and insults since the start of her tenure at the university. She was told that her PhD thesis was worthless and that she would not succeed because she was not a Muslim by a Muslim clerk who apparently couldn't even read the title correctly.
Additionally, some faculty members have accused the university of discriminating against non-Muslims when it comes to basic amenities like furniture, a cabin, and a place to sit. After being promoted to Assistant Controller of Examinations, a staff member who is a member of the SC community had to deal with offensive remarks. According to reports, Muslim employees made comments on how a "Kafir" could be assigned to a "high class" office cabin.
According to the committee's findings, a large number of tribal students frequently leave the university due to the intense stress of dealing with the widespread harassment and discrimination they experience from Muslim staff members due to their belonging to non-muslim backgrounds.
