Elon Musk suggested that Starlink satellite internet service will no longer be provided to Ukrainians for free, days after Ukrainian ambassador Andrij Melnyk asked him to "f*** off".
Musk, in a tweet, said that he is "following [the] recommendation" of the Ukrainian ambassador.
Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post journalist Jason Jay Smart on Friday tweeted, "Elon Musk’s Starlink says it can no longer afford to give Ukraine free service and asks the Pentagon to pay for it. Starlink had been a game changer in the war. This comes days after Ukrainian Ambassador @MelnykAndrij told Musk to 'f*** off'."
Replying to the tweet, Musk said, "We’re just following his recommendation," along with a shrugging emoji.
Musk’s SpaceX sent a letter to the Pentagon saying it can no longer continue to fund the Starlink service in Ukraine, CNN reported. The letter also requested that the Pentagon take over funding for Ukraine’s government and military use of Starlink.
