Election Commission unveils world’s largest electoral dataset for 2024 Lok Sabha

On Thursday, the Election Commission released 42 statistical reports on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and 14 reports each on the four state assembly elections held at the same time.
According to the report, there are 800 women candidates in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, compared to 726 in 2019. The EC mentioned that these 100 statistical reports will be a valuable resource for academics, researchers, and election observers worldwide, providing insights for detailed analysis and policy discussions. “The Lok Sabha Elections creates world record with 64.64 crore voters exercising their franchise,” the EC said in its report.
“The Number of nominations filed stood at 12,459 in 2024, as compared to 11,692 in 2019. 8,360 candidates contest elections as against 8,054 in 2019,” the EC added in the report. The Election Commission's report states that the voter turnout for females was 65.78%, slightly higher than the 65.55% for males in this year's Lok Sabha elections. The report also mentions that over 8,000 candidates participated in the elections this year, compared to 8,054 in 2019.
In addition, the total number of nominations filed in 2024 was 12,459, up from 11,692 in 2019. The Election Commission announced that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 64.64 crore voters cast their votes. It also highlighted a more than 46.4% increase in the number of third-gender voters compared to the 2019 elections.
