The Election Commission has requested Delhi Minister Atishi to substantiate her statement regarding the BJP's alleged attempt to lure her with evidence.
The EC's action follows Atishi's recent assertion that the BJP approached her through a trusted individual, urging her to join the party to safeguard and advance her political career. She claimed that failure to comply could result in her arrest by the ED within a month.
During a press conference, Atishi disclosed, "I was approached by the BJP through a person very close to me who asked me to join the BJP to save and enhance my political career or I will be arrested within a month."
Following Atishi's claim of being approached by the BJP, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva has challenged her to furnish evidence to support her allegation. Sachdeva urged the AAP leader to provide details of her assertion that she was solicited to join the BJP or face potential legal consequences.
During a press conference, Sachdeva announced that his party would initiate legal proceedings against Atishi if she could not substantiate her allegation that the BJP had approached her to join through a close friend.
In response to Atishi's claim, the Delhi unit of the BJP issued a defamation notice to her the following day, demanding a public apology. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated during a press conference that Atishi had failed to provide evidence regarding the alleged approach by the saffron party.
He further commented that the AAP was facing a crisis in Delhi, leading to the making of baseless allegations out of frustration. Sachdeva emphasised that they would not allow Atishi to escape accountability for her statements.
