External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with High Commissioners and Ambassadors from different countries, landed at Jorhat Airport in Assam on Sunday to participate in Advantage Assam 2.0.
Following the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, which is set to take place in Khanapara on February 25–26, Jaishankar and envoys of various countries will watch a spectacular Jhumur dance performance called "Jhumor Binandini" at Sarusajai Stadium tomorrow. The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit is a component of the broader celebration that includes the massive Jhumoir festival. More than 8,000 Jhumoir performers from all over Assam will take the stage at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. The Assam government will provide financial support to artists and tea gardens to promote Jhumoir, a traditional dance. Jhumoir is deeply connected to Assam's tea garden workers and the Adivasi community, dating back to the early 19th century when tea plantations began in the region.
Additionally, the Assam government is organising the second edition of Advantage Assam, which will take place on February 25 at Khanapara Veterinary College Field in Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Advantage Assam 2.0 on the same day. According to a press release, the major Infrastructure & Investment Summit will be attended by several Union Ministers, industrialists, heads of mission, and ambassadors from other nations. The Assam government has already received investment proposals worth ₹1 trillion, and this amount could increase further. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Guwahati on the evening of February 24 and attend a grand Jhumoir performance at Sarusajai Stadium. More than 8,600 artists from 800 tea gardens across Assam will showcase the traditional Jhumoir dance. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that this event will mark a historic turning point in Assam’s journey. "Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit will be held in Guwahati on February 25 and 26.
Several Union Ministers, Ambassadors, Investors from the nation and Investors from outside will participate. This is going to change the journey of Assam for all the time to come. As of now, we have proposals for Rs 1 trillion. Let us see how it is unfolded," Sarma said.
On the second day of the summit, multiple sessions will take place, covering key topics. The Union Ministerial Sessions will include discussions led by Union Ministers on important subjects like "I-Way to Viksit Assam," the Act East policy, semiconductors, export promotion, and more, showcasing Assam's growth potential.
