A drone struck Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium just hours before a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, which was set to take place at 8 pm, sources informed India Today TV on Thursday. The match was between PSL teams Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. This incident followed Islamabad's attempt to target 15 military sites in India, to which India responded by destroying air defence radar systems in Lahore.
Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry previously stated that several drones were taken down in cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Miano, Karachi, Chhor, Rawalpindi, and Attock, according to PTI. Sources suggest that Pakistan's HQ-9 missile defence systems, which China developed, were struck by Israeli-made HAROP drones, leaving the Pakistani army vulnerable in Lahore.
In a statement regarding India blocking Pakistan's attempt to escalate strains, the Army stated, "India's response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan." The Army also noted that Pakistan has ramped up its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control in areas like Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan reported that four of its soldiers were injured in Lahore, and a civilian was killed in Miano, Sindh. This incident follows India's operation 'Sindoor' the previous day, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan. The precision strikes, carried out in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, resulted in the deaths of 100 militants in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, according to sources. The strike targeted and destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan associated with the banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
