On Tuesday, during a trial of an anti-drone system, police intercepted and shot down a drone camera flying over the Ram temple route, officials said.
An FIR was filed, stating that the incident was a deliberate conspiracy aimed at creating chaos at the Ram temple, potentially endangering the lives of a large number of devotees. However, police declined to share further details, citing an ongoing investigation. Sources revealed that the conspirator has been identified as being from Gurugram, Haryana.
Previously, as per the officials, a bomb disposal squad thoroughly inspected the drone camera and confirmed that it posed no security threat. The case has been filed at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station.
Authorities in Ayodhya have now activated the anti-drone security system. Now, flying drones over the Ram temple is specifically banned.
According to a police officer, "This system can detect any drone within a 2.5-kilometre radius. During the drill, security forces intercepted a drone camera hovering over the Ram Janmabhoomi temple route."
Police have begun an investigation to identify the drone operator while intelligence agencies remain on high alert. Previously this year, a senior officer in Lucknow informed PTI that the Uttar Pradesh Police had deployed a cutting-edge, high-tech and sophisticated anti-drone system for the first time in Ram Lalla's idol consecration at the Ram temple on January 22, 2024.
The officer stated that the same anti-drone technology has been deployed for aerial security at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. So far, only a few states in the country, including Gujarat, have used it.
