The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted a flight test of the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.
The Defence Ministry issued a release stating that all subsystems performed as expected during the test.
The missile's performance was continuously monitored throughout its flight path by multiple Range Sensors, including Radar, Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS), and Telemetry, strategically positioned by ITR at various locations. Additionally, surveillance of the missile's trajectory was conducted from the Indian Air Force's Su-30-Mk-I aircraft, ensuring comprehensive observation throughout the entirety of the flight.
The missile successfully navigated its intended path utilising waypoint navigation and showcased remarkable proficiency in low-altitude sea-skimming flight. This accomplishment, as stated in the release, also validates the dependable performance of the indigenous propulsion system developed by Bengaluru's Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE).
The missile features state-of-the-art avionics and software, enhancing its performance reliability. Developed by Bengaluru's DRDO laboratory, the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), with contributions from other national laboratories and Indian industries, the missile underscores a collaborative effort. The test was observed by numerous senior scientists from diverse DRDO laboratories, accompanied by representatives from the production partner, as detailed in the release.
