The Greenko Group's AM Green, a producer of green hydrogen and ammonia and DP World, a prominent player in global logistics, have partnered to build storage and logistics facilities for 2 million tons of green fuel annually.
“Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed in December, DP World and AM Green will jointly develop logistics and storage infrastructure to facilitate the global export of 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia and 1 MTPA of green methanol,” AM Green said in a statement Tuesday morning. The logistics infrastructure will involve developing port facilities within AM Green Net-Zero Industrial Clusters to support global exports. Additionally, bunkering infrastructure will be established across Dubai, India and Southeast Asia to supply green ammonia and methanol produced by AM Green plants.
Using renewable energy sources like solar, wind and hydroelectric power, AM Green is building several projects around India to create chemicals, biofuels, green ammonia, green hydrogen, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Over the next five years, the company wants to increase its ability to produce 5 million tonnes of renewable fuel annually. The final decision for a 1 MTPA Green Ammonia proposal in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh has already been made. The central and state governments have been working to create infrastructure along their ports in an effort to turn India into a hub for the export of green ammonia and, by extension, green hydrogen.
“This strategic partnership will enable us to efficiently export green ammonia, green methanol, and other sustainable fuels, enhancing the global green supply chain and supporting the global shift to a low-carbon economy,” said Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group & AM Green. With the International Maritime Organisation and many countries worldwide focusing on green shipping infrastructure to reduce carbon emissions in the maritime sector, the agreement aims to set up key terminal facilities across the European Union, Far East, and UAE. These facilities will support the zero-carbon supply chain needed for their shift to a low-carbon economy.
“Partnering with AM Green allows us to harness our expertise in logistics and infrastructure to facilitate the global distribution of clean fuels and chemical products. Together, we aim to play a pivotal role in enabling a low-carbon economy and advancing global sustainability goals,” said Yuvraj Narayan, Group Deputy CEO and CFO, DP World Group.
