Democrats and Republicans take turns to cross red-lines and reach new lows

The shameful event in the US Capitol by far-right radicals is merely a continuation of the disgraceful conduct of far-left radicals in 2020. As the loony-left and loony-right continue to demolish hard built US institutions, one is reminded of the horrific law and order situation of 80’s India, where rigging, goonda raj and rioting were a commonplace. Political scores were settled with muscle power on the streets and in voting booths.
A big thank you to T.N. Seshan (1990-1996), and his successors at the Election Commission of India, for eliminating election malpractice and muscle power as factors in Indian elections. India grew to become a model for free and fair elections and smooth transitions.
In the US, the spiralling law and order situation was set in motion in summer of 2020 when radical left politicians of Seattle, Washington, nurtured an assortment of far-left groups to score political points over Trump. The incendiary role of councilwoman Kshama Sawant, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Mayor Jenny Durkan should be noted.
Far Left crosses first red-line, June 8th, 2020
The far-left protestors occupied The Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle and declared it an autonomous zone, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) where Seattle police were prevented from entering.
Komonews reports that “Seattle Councilwoman Kshama Sawant called the "CHAZ" movement a major victory. She said the area should be turned over permanently into community control, instead of back in the hands of the Seattle Police Department”. It further states that “Sawant helped support CHAZ Tuesday evening when she opened the doors to City Hall to allow hundreds of protesters inside.”
In another report, Komonews reports that “Seattle City Council Member Kshama Sawant says she did nothing wrong, and the bold move (of letting protestors into City Hall) was intended to uplift the diverse voices of protesters. Sawant used her keys to open the doors and allowed protesters to enter City Hall Tuesday night. Sawant says she did it to show City Hall belongs to the people and she wanted the diverse group of demonstrators to be heard in the halls of power.”
Far Left crosses second red-line, June 9th, 2020
Kshama Sawant abused her access to the City Hall and allowed protestors to storm and occupy City Hall. She betrayed the institution that she was part of.
Seattle Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal called the occupation of Seattle by CHAZ “planting the seeds of justice.” Jayapal’s seeds of justice resulted in several incidents of shootings, rape, murder and vandalism, where one person died. The radical left continued to defend the lawlessness within the CHAZ territory.
The country witnessed horrific incidents of arson and rioting, but Mayor Jenny Durkan tweeted, “Seattle is fine. Don’t be so afraid of democracy.” referring to CHAZ. As it turns out, there is one red-line the Mayor was not willing to cross. When protests targeted her house on June 28th and endangered her family, she lashed out at the organizers and rapidly dismantled the CHAZ territory.
As per capitolhillseattle,
the letter from Durkan’s office levelled five allegations against Sawant including “using her official position to lead a march” to the mayor’s home Sunday night (June 28th), Durkan says, “despite the fact that it was publicly known I was not there, and she and organizers knew that my address was protected under the state confidentiality program because of threats against me due largely to my work as U.S. Attorney.” It further quotes the letter “All of us have joined hundreds of demonstrations across the City, but Councilmember Sawant and her followers chose to do so with reckless disregard of the safety of my family and children,” Durkan writes.
On July 1st, the protests were finally dismantled.
Far left gets away with murder
If CHAZ taught us something, it was that the law breakers have immunity as long as it is for a blessed cause. The only red-line they should not cross is targeting homes of the champions, everything else was fair game.
The list of things that were fair game included, businesses, residential properties, vehicles, lives, statues of founding fathers and anything that came in their way. Somebody was busy taking notes while the country was burning.
Far Right takes note and crosses a new red-line
The extensive use of mail-in ballots and questionable patterns in some battleground states were exploited by Trump and supporters to question the validity of the election results. Lacking a respected neutral institution like Election Commission of India, the authorities have failed to satisfactorily address the allegations of election malpractice.
And now, to prevent perceived “election stealing”, the far-right is resorting to the same tools the far-left has successfully used to their advantage. They went further and crossed a new red-line by occupying the US Capitol, the temple of US democracy.
Since the far-left have no moral ground to stand on, it is up to the moderates on both sides to reign in the extremists and redeem the situation. The alternative is the end of rule-based world order. And China is watching with glee.
