On Saturday, the Delhi police registered a first information report (FIR) against Mahant Swami Yati Narasinghanand Saraswati of Dasna Devi Temple in Ghaziabad for his comments against Prophet Muhammed.
The FIR was registered at Parliament Street police station under sections 153-A and 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Swami Yati Narasinghanand Saraswati made the comments during an event at Press Club of India in Delhi.
This FIR, which was registered based on the complaint of Amanatullah Khan in which he had alleged that Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati used derogatory language against Prophet Muhammad.
In a tweet which has now been removed by Twitter, Khan had asked for Yati Narsinghanand's beheading, alleging 'blasphemy'. The provocative tweet which goes against Twitter Rules, remained online for hours despite countless requests to remove it.
“His tongue and head should be cut off to teach him a lesson,” Khan had tweeted before approaching the Delhi Police to take action against him as the laws of the land do not allow beheading. He had even pinned this tweet on his profile.
Strangely enough, the demand of Saraswati's beheading is still up on Facebook.
As a response to the rather inhumane demand of beheading, on April 4, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra filed a complaint against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan for his malicious tweets against Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati.
In his complaint, Mishra mentioned that Khan’s tweet on April 3 was a blatant attempt to incite religious and communal hatred in the country.
