According to a report by ANI, citing sources, the Delhi Police has summoned staff members of the legislator from the Rithala constituency, Mohinder Goyal to join an ongoing investigation. The case revolves around a group of alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who were recently arrested by the police. The individuals were found in possession of fake identification documents, including Aadhaar cards and voter IDs.
This development comes amidst a heated political tussle between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the national capital. Both parties have accused each other of facilitating the registration of fake voters ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
In a recent escalation, the BJP launched a fresh attack on the AAP government, alleging that the signatures of two AAP MLAs were found on forms used to procure the fraudulent documents. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that this incident has exposed “anti-national” elements within the ruling party.
“In the context of investigating fake votes, it has come to light that there was a campaign and conspiracy to create fake Aadhaar cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators and make them voters. Forms bearing the signatures and stamps of two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have been found. This makes it clear why there is such an uproar. The anti-national forces, who have previously been linked to terrorist activities involving Bangladeshi infiltrators, are now being exposed,” Trivedi told the media.
The Delhi Police recently uncovered a racket involved in the issuance of fake Aadhaar cards in the national capital. During the operation, over 25 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were identified. Authorities have initiated the process of deporting these individuals.
According to a report by The Times of India, the crackdown was carried out following directives from Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
“Following the LG’s direction, we launched a campaign in which we started identifying illegal immigrants and deporting them,” Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Mashup Tiwari said on the operation.
The Special Commissioner of Police revealed that a racket involved in issuing fake Aadhaar cards had been busted, and those responsible were arrested.
The officer further stated that the illegal immigrants entered India through the borders of Meghalaya and travelled to Delhi via the Rajdhani Express.
