The election results in Delhi have turned the tide in favour of the BJP after a tough political battle. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), already struggling with several criminal cases, faced major setbacks. Arvind Kejriwal lost to Parvesh Verma, while Manish Sisodia suffered a defeat in Jangpura. Most exit polls predict a victory for the BJP and its allies, bringing them closer to forming a government in Delhi after 28 years. The Congress is not expected to make any significant gains, just like in the last two elections where it failed to win a single seat. If the AAP wins again, it will form the government for the fourth time in a row, surpassing the Congress' 15-year rule in the National Capital.
However, for the time being, as the counting is heading to a conclusion, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is moving towards victory. As of 2:50 pm, trends show the BJP leading with 47 seats, while Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is at 23 seats. The Congress has not won any seats so far. These results match the predictions of exit polls, which had forecasted BJP’s return to power in Delhi after nearly 30 years and AAP losing its dominance. Exit Polls had estimated BJP would get 41 seats, AAP 28, and Congress just one.
BJP's Parvesh Verma achieved a big victory by defeating former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. Kejriwal had won this seat in 2013, 2015, and 2020, but this time, he lost by 1,200 votes. In Jangpura, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah defeated former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
