Terrorist Hafiz Saeed's favourite journalist, Barkha Dutt has yet again garnered criticism across all quarters after her outright display of insensitivity and sheer disregard for the guidelines issued by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) started drawing attention.
In a tweet, Barkha attaches a video wherein she is seen reporting live from a Covid19 ICU at Bengaluru's HBS hospital. The question that netizens have been asking is how a 'journalist', a third person, was allowed to enter a covid ward when even their relatives are prohibited from visiting.
In the ward she is seen to be engaged in conversation with a Dr Taha Mateen.
Apart from Barkha, Mateen and the administration of HBS hospital have received severe backlash from netizens for their dilapidated conscience and insensitivity.
Barkha, stooping to new lows by virtue of her unparalleled skill in 'vulture journalism' is not surprising. From manoeuvring a personalised propaganda way back during her Kargil reportage, her seamless ability of scavenging over sensitive issues is well known; in this case it is the second wave of Covid-19 in the country.
While the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have clearly imposed a restriction on visitors, with only one attendant allowed to enter the ward, Barkha is seen conducting nothing short of a talk show in full swing.
With an 'award-winning', 'senior journalist' violating guidelines and displaying a clear lack of ethics, it is indeed worrisome. Is the itch to grab a news byte or the infamous Editors Guild a notch above the law, are some of the many questions that an Indian is asking today.
