On October 22, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) executed a significant operation, carrying out coordinated searches across ten locations in various districts of Kashmir. This extensive operation led to the detention of seven suspects, and authorities recovered 14 mobile phones, one laptop, and other incriminating materials that may aid ongoing investigations.
The raids targeted several key districts, including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Anantnag, Budgam, and Kulgam. CIK officials reported that they successfully dismantled a recruitment module linked to a newly formed terrorist organisation named "Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim" (TLM). This group is believed to be an offshoot of the notorious Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and is reportedly being operated by a Pakistani terrorist handler known as Baba Hamas.
The timing of this operation follows a tragic incident in Ganderbal district, where a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited a construction site after a violent attack resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a doctor and six non-local workers. The NIA team, led by a Superintendent of Police from the agency's regional branch, is actively investigating this incident, which has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of workers and civilians in the region.
In light of these events, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasised the critical need for security forces and police to remain vigilant. He condemned the acts of violence against innocent civilians, asserting that such actions are aimed at creating a false perception of instability in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah reaffirmed the administration's commitment to ensuring public security and protecting the lives of all residents in the face of these escalating challenges. The situation continues to unfold as authorities work to restore order and safety in the region.
