On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took action in the Ansal Group case in Lucknow, ordering the immediate registration of an FIR against the company. He also assured homebuyers that their interests would be safeguarded, as stated in an official announcement.
The development comes after the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) started insolvency proceedings against the company. The chief minister emphasised that the Ansal Group's "fraudulent practices" against homebuyers will not be accepted during a review meeting of the Housing and Urban Planning Department. He ordered officials to take firm action against all the company's accountable officers. "To ensure justice for those affected, CM Adityanath directed that FIRs be filed in all districts where similar cases against the Ansal Group have surfaced, following the pattern observed in Lucknow," read the statement.
"Additionally, he instructed the formation of a committee comprising the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and aggrieved buyers, ensuring that strong evidence is presented in court. This, he noted, will facilitate strict legal action and make it easier for the court to hold the Ansal Group accountable," added the statement. Officials told the chief minister at the meeting that the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) had issued a one-sided ruling without notifying the Housing Department or the Lucknow Development Authority. "Expressing strong displeasure, CM Adityanath directed the authorities to file an appeal in the wider public interest against the decision," it said.
The chief minister reviewed the progress of the Housing and Urban Planning Department and instructed officials to take immediate action on all pending cases to speed up their resolution. During the meeting, he also checked the operational status of Kanpur Metro, Lucknow Metro and Agra Metro, along with updates on ongoing corridor construction. He urged officials to fast-track the projects to ensure they are completed on time. CM Yogi also reviewed the progress of the roadmap for achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy and the key steps needed to implement it. This includes setting up 100 new townships, digitising administrative processes, speeding up property-related approvals, and making land available for building 100 hotels and 100 hospitals, according to the statement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the GIS-based master plan framework and set a March deadline for identifying and implementing master plans in different districts. He also instructed officials to speed up land acquisition for the Agra Inner Ring Road, Rahnkala and Raipur projects. He emphasised working closely with local farmers to ensure smooth execution. CM Adityanath directed the Development Authority to speed up ongoing projects in Jhansi, Bareilly, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr, Chitrakoot and Agra under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme.
CM Yogi also stressed the importance of development authorities taking the initiative to manage and control urban growth, ensuring cities develop in a well-planned and sustainable manner. While reviewing the progress of the International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Lucknow, the Chief Minister instructed officials to speed up the work to ensure it is completed on time, according to the statement.
