CM Saha announces implementation of new schemes for women empowerment in Tripura

Chief Minister Manik Saha declared that the current state government is actively engaged in promoting women's empowerment through the implementation of various schemes aimed at their welfare.
Saha made these remarks during his address following the inauguration of the National Skill Training Institute exclusively for women at Anandanagar in Agartala. The event took place in the virtual presence of Union Minister for Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that the institute, equipped with modern amenities, has been established in Agartala with the objective of providing women enhanced access to better opportunities.
The inauguration of the institute's building occurred today, with student enrollment already underway. Additionally, a girls' hostel was inaugurated during the event. Expressing his satisfaction, the Chief Minister remarked on the establishment of this institution, emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to women's empowerment and the execution of diverse schemes for their benefit.
He underscored the significance of this skill development initiative in empowering women and fostering employment opportunities. Notably, students from other states have also enrolled, indicating widespread interest in the program. The training curriculum will cover various sectors, representing a significant milestone in the government's endeavours.
Saha elaborated on the initiatives undertaken by the Directorate of Skill Development, highlighting the implementation of various skill development programs. "The Tripura Skill Development Mission, established in 2015 under the Department of Industries and Commerce, aims to transform Tripura into a dynamic hub with a knowledgeable and skilled workforce," he stated.
He further emphasized, "Currently, the Directorate of Skill Development is actively executing several skill development programs, including the Pradhanmantri Koushal Vikas Yojana, Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood, and Skill for capacity building in textiles, all of which are centrally sponsored by the Centre."
He added that under the state government, programs such as Mukhyamantri Dakkhata Unnoyon Prakalpo and the Skill Development Component of SC Welfare are operational. According to the state government, over the past nine years, the skill development initiatives have provided training to approximately 42,000 candidates.
The Directorate of Skill Development, in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation, is currently running an international skill program in Tripura. Thirteen candidates are undergoing Japanese language training in Delhi, with three already placed in Japan's nursing sector, earning an average salary of Rs 1 lakh.
The recently launched Mukhyamantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa aims to offer advanced courses, upgrade skills in traditional service sectors, and facilitate international placements for skilled candidates.
