In a recent update on the goddess Kali's crown theft row, a video has surfaced online showing the theft of the goddess's jewel. Maa Kali’s crown was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jeshoreshwari temple in Bangladesh. The temple staff in Satkhira reported the silver and gold-plated crown missing on October 10, according to reports.

The gold- and silver-plated item was reported missing by the Satkhira staff of the Jeshoreshwari Temple. The crown was a gift from Indian Prime Minister Modi during a visit in 2021.

During his visit to the temple in 2021, Modi presented the crown to the temple as a gift. The theft is said to have occurred in broad daylight between 2 and 2.30 P.m. India has asked Bangladesh to investigate the matter. An unidentified man is seen in the alleged video entering what appears to be the temple's sanctum sanctorum. He just pocketed the item after removing it from the vigraha's head. He then turned to leave, and the CCTV outside recorded Zhim doing so.

The crown was allegedly taken when temple priest Dilip Mukherjee departed following the day's worship. It was later found to be missing by the cleaning crew, according to reports. Inspector Taizul Islam of the Shyamnagar police station stated, "To identify the thief, we are reviewing the temple's CCTV footage." For believers, the stolen item is sacred since the Jeshoreshwari temple is one of the 51 shakti pithas. 

The incident occurs during the Navratri festival, which is currently taking place and features worship of the Hindu goddess Durga in nine incarnations. One of those forms is also Kali. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka posted on X, expressing their deep concern over the theft and urging the authorities to find the article and apprehend those responsible. 

“We have seen reports of theft of the crown gifted by PM Modi to Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple (Satkhira) in 2021 during his visit to Bangladesh,” it wrote. “We express deep concern and urge Govt of Bangladesh to investigate theft, recover the crown and take action against the perpetrators.”

New Delhi is extremely troubled by the reported theft, according to central government sources. The authorities are in contact with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka regarding this matter, they stated. Authorities in the neighbouring country have reportedly been urged to look into the incident, find the stolen item, and prosecute those responsible, according to sources.
