Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Tihar Jail on Tuesday night in connection with the excise policy case, just a day before the Supreme Court was set to hear his bail plea in the ED’s money laundering case.
The CBI questioned Kejriwal in Tihar Jail on Monday and recorded his statement regarding the excise policy case.
Kejriwal is scheduled to be produced before the CBI court on Wednesday morning, where the CBI will seek his custody for further interrogation.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleged on Tuesday that the BJP has hatched a conspiracy with CBI officers to frame Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a “fake case”.
In a video message on X, Singh wondered how would one get justice when such things are happening.
“We have learnt from reliable sources that the BJP-led Centre has hatched a conspiracy with CBI officers at a time when there is a huge possibility of Kejriwal getting bail from the Supreme Court. They have planned to frame him in a fake case by the CBI and get him arrested.
“The entire country is watching the atrocities of the BJP. How will one get justice in such circumstances? People will stand up against this,” the Rajya Sabha MP of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said.
There was no immediate reaction to the allegation from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Delhi High Court has suspended the trial court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while also granting the Enforcement Directorate's request to suspend the trial court's order in the excise policy money laundering case.
Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, sitting on the vacation bench, stated during the ruling that the trial court had not adequately considered the documents and arguments presented in the case.
