The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to launch a pioneering research project aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship and commercialisation in the Ayush sector. This partnership represents a significant step toward modernising and expanding the reach of Ayurveda and other traditional health systems, aligning with the government’s vision for growth in the Ayush industry.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed as part of the government’s 100-day agenda, will focus on developing innovative management strategies to bring Ayush products and services to broader markets. The initiative seeks to merge traditional healthcare practices with modern business models, creating a more sustainable and commercially viable Ayush ecosystem. By combining JNU's academic expertise with CARI's industry experience, the collaboration is expected to provide a strong foundation for future growth and entrepreneurship within the sector.
"This partnership is a game-changer for the Ayush industry," said a senior CARI official. "It will help bridge the gap between research and commercialisation, opening up new opportunities for innovation and market expansion."
Beyond the MoU with JNU, CARI has achieved several other milestones in recent months. The institute earned National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care Providers (NABH) accreditation, underscoring its commitment to high standards of healthcare delivery. It also launched a Geriatric Care Program that exceeded expectations by providing treatment to over 2,200 elderly patients, surpassing its initial target. Additionally, CARI organised special camps that provided healthcare services to 1,500 marginalised individuals.
In another significant development, CARI is establishing a Department of Integrated Medicine at Lady Hardinge Medical College to advance the integration of Ayurveda with modern medical practices. With these initiatives, CARI continues to lead efforts to expand and strengthen the role of Ayurveda in India's healthcare landscape.
