The Border Security Force (BSF) reported seizing a China-made drone near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Amritsar district, along with a packet containing 500 grams of heroin.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops conducted a thorough search operation in the suspected area. The troops subsequently recovered one drone and a packet containing 500 grams of suspected heroin, as announced by the BSF Punjab Frontier.
The packet, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, was found alongside a small torch attached to the drone. The recovery occurred in fields near Nestha village, approximately 300 kilometers from Chandigarh. The recovered drone is identified as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic.
The BSF announced that prompt action by its troops, based on reliable information, once again prevented an illicit attempt to smuggle narcotics through a drone from across the border. The BSF, tasked with safeguarding the challenging and varied 553-kilometer India-Pakistan border in Punjab, disclosed that in 2023, it detected and shot down 107 drones, seizing a total of 442.395 kilograms of heroin.
In addition to seizing 23 weapons and 505 rounds of ammunition, the BSF has reported three Pakistan intruders killed. They have also apprehended 23 Pakistan nationals, including two smugglers, as well as 14 Bangladeshi nationals and 95 Indian suspects, including 35 smugglers, across various incidents.
Last year, the BSF troopers from the Punjab Frontier returned 12 Pakistani nationals to Pakistan Rangers after they inadvertently crossed the International Border.
Despite facing numerous challenges such as inclement weather conditions and a surge in smuggling activities, BSF personnel are tirelessly guarding the borders around the clock with unwavering dedication.
