BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Friday alleged that she and her family were receiving rape and death threats after Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair allegedly shared an edited video of her while speaking in a debate on the Gyanvapi row. The BJP leader shared several screenshots of threatening messages received by her.
"I am getting continuous death and beheading threats against my family and myself which are egged on by @zoo_bear (Mohammed Zubair) because of his attempts to incite communal passions and vitiate the atmosphere by building a fake narrative," Nupur Sharma tweeted.
Notably, the BJP leader, during a debate on Times Now on the Gyanvapi row said that 'since people are mocking the Hindu faith they could also mock other religions.' Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair allegedly took the chunk of the video where Nupur Sharma talked about other religions referring to Islamic beliefs, and shared it on Twitter without of context narrative calling her 'communal hatemonger.'
BJP leader Nupur Sharma further stated that 'if something untoward were to happen to herself or her family, Mohammed Zubair will be solely responsible for it.'
"I’m being bombarded with rape, death and beheading threats against my sister, mother, father & myself. I’ve communicated same to @DelhiPolice. If anything, untoward happens to me or any of my family members @CPDelhi please note wholly & solely @zoo_bear is responsible who instead of ‘fact-checking’ peddled a fake-narrative to vitiate the atmosphere, cause communal disharmony & cause communal & targeted hatred against me & my family," the BJP leader further wrote in her tweet.
Delhi police replied to Nupur Sharma's tweets and assured that necessary action would be taken. "The matter has been forwarded to the concerned officials for necessary action. You will be contacted shortly," the tweet read.
