The decision by the Congress-led government in Karnataka to appoint a Muslim member, identified as 'Nawaz', to oversee the Brahmotsavam event at the Shri Avimukteshwara Swamy Temple in Hoskote has ignited controversy and attracted criticism from the BJP.

The inclusion of 'Nawaz' in the Brahmotsavam Committee, tasked with organizing the traditional festival celebrated annually with great fervour, has sparked debate among orthodox members of the community.

The selection process, overseen by the Tehsildar upon MLA Sharath Bachegowda's request, resulted in the appointment of twelve committee members, with 'Nawaz' being the sole Muslim representative. The Karnataka BJP, in a tweet that has since been deleted, voiced criticism regarding the composition of the committee.
