Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd., has signed a historic Letter of Intent (LoI) with AM General, USA, for the supply of advanced artillery cannons manufactured in India. This agreement marks a first-of-its-kind deal, making KSSL the first Indian defense company to export artillery cannons to the United States. The partnership signifies a strengthening defense collaboration between India and the U.S.
The LoI was signed at the IDEX 2025 defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi, a key global event for military technology and defence partnerships. Under this agreement, KSSL will supply a range of artillery systems, including mounted, towed, and ultra-light gun systems in 105mm and 155mm calibers. This collaboration is a major milestone for KSSL, reinforcing its position as a global player in the defense sector.
KSSL specialises in developing indigenous weapon systems, protected mobility solutions, and advanced military technologies. The company’s expertise in artillery systems has made it a key player in defense manufacturing and its growing association with AM General further strengthens its global footprint.
Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd., highlighted the importance of the agreement, stating "The supply of critical defence systems from India to the U.S. is a groundbreaking achievement. KSSL is proud to be the first Indian company to provide cannons to the U.S. military. The agreement is part of a broader initiative to enhance defense industrial cooperation between India and the U.S. It follows recent high-level bilateral defence discussions, reflecting India’s growing role as a reliable defense supplier. The deal also boosts India's defence manufacturing sector, positioning it as a key player in the global arms market.
Following the announcement, shares of Bharat Forge ended 0.1% lower at ₹1,075.60 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), in line with minor losses in the overall market indices.
