Bengaluru's Kempegowda Airport terminal 2 earns UNESCO recognition

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has garnered prestigious honours at the 2023 Prix Versailles hosted by UNESCO. The accolades include recognition for Terminal 2 (T2) as one of the 'World's most beautiful airports' and the coveted 'World Special Prize for an Interior 2023.'
The world judges panel for the prestigious Prix Versailles 2023, led by acclaimed fashion designer Elie Saab, disclosed the latest recipients of world titles in architectural excellence. Among the notable projects earning this esteemed global recognition, Bengaluru International Airport stood out as the singular Indian airport to be accorded such an honor.
Bengaluru Airport's recent accolades not only mark a significant achievement but also elevate its status among the premier airports worldwide. This recognition solidifies the airport's standing as a top-tier global facility, underscoring its commitment to excellence in the aviation industry.
Expressing delight at the recognition, Hari Marar, MD & CEO of Bengaluru International Airport Ltd, commented on the nomination of Terminal 2 for the 2023 Prix Versailles Award. Marar stated, "The nomination of terminal 2 for the 2023 Prix Versailles Award is a moment of immense pride, and we are pleased to see the terminal receiving the recognition it deserves."
He highlighted T2's unique blend of art and technology, serving as a distinctive gateway and leaving a lasting impression on global travelers, providing a glimpse of the rich offerings of the state and country. Terminal 2 had previously attained the prestigious IGBC platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council under the IGBC Green New Building Rating system.
Terminal 2 (T2) at Bengaluru International Airport is designed to accommodate 25 million passengers annually, prioritizing functionality and aesthetic appeal. With an art program enhancing the passenger experience, T2 is recognized for its sustainable design, being the world's largest terminal pre-certified with a platinum LEED rating and achieving platinum certification under the IGBC green new building rating system. T2 embodies the airport's commitment to environmental responsibility, ensuring a memorable and eco-friendly travel experience.
