Jharkhand Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) received a tipoff that some terrorists entered the state of Jharkhand from Bangladesh. The militants trained individuals in Pakur as part of a conspiracy and then returned.
After this information was released, the ATS issued a warning to all SPs and DIGs, warning that after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh, banned organisations there are plotting anti-India terrorist activities.
Abdul Mammun, the Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist, allegedly crossed into India from Bangladesh, entering the Pakur district through Dhuliyan in Murshidabad. He illegally crossed the border and entered Pakur on January 6 and trained 15 members of JAHA-India.
According to police sources, Bangladeshi-banned organisations have been plotting anti-India terrorist activities following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in Bangladesh. As part of this plan, some terrorists came to Jharkhand from Bangladesh, gave training to individuals, and later went.
As per the letter from the ATS, JAHA-India and JMB members assembled at the Islami Dawa Centre in Dubrajpur, Pakur, on January 6; JMB member Abdul Mammun was also present at that assemblage.
Mammun had a meeting with members of the organisation JAHA and trained a few cadres in terrorist exercises before returning back to Bangladesh.
“It is learnt that Abdul Mamun illegally crossed the border and came to Pakur on January 6. During his visit, he provided training to 15 JAHA members. He left India on January 7, 2025, by Dhuliyan route,” the letter revealed. “In view of the above threat, you are requested to suitably brief and alert your field formation form for collecting actionable intelligence in this regard and to take appropriate, preventive & precautionary measures so that nothing untoward happens”, it further read.
The letter contained the names of all 15 individuals who experienced training in Pakur. According to ATS intelligence, some people from Jalangi in Murshidabad also attended the meeting.
Police stated that the ATS has alerted SPs and DIGs across all districts to take action based on confidential information. Notably, the banned terrorist group JMB had been active in Sahibganj and Pakur within the Santhal Pargana region, gathering details about suspects and underground members linked to the organisation.
As per the police sources, the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh led to banned groups planning anti-India terrorist movements. Some terrorists travelled into Jharkhand from Bangladesh and later moved after readying a few individuals to become militants.
