According to officials, a significant development has taken place in the Morigaon district of Assam, where an arrest has been made in connection with a case related to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scam.
The accused, identified as Dilwar Hussain, was apprehended by a police team from a rented house located in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati on July 13. This arrest comes after Hussain managed to evade capture for several months, adding a new twist to the ongoing investigation.
Saimrian Baishya, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Morigaon district, disclosed that the arrest is directly linked to a case that had been registered at the Mikirbheta Police Station in relation to the PMFBY scam. Notably, eight individuals had already been previously arrested in connection with this case.
Hussain, the owner of a Common Service Point (CSP), had remained at large until his recent arrest, which marks a significant breakthrough in the authorities' efforts to uncover the truth behind the scam.
During the operation that led to Hussain's arrest, the police managed to recover a substantial amount of evidence from his possession. This includes the seizure of 521 ATM cards, several SIM cards, a swipe machine, and a fingerprint machine. The significance of these findings and their potential implications for the investigation are yet to be fully determined.
The officials have now shifted their focus towards verifying the authenticity and potential misuse of the seized ATM cards, an essential step towards uncovering the extent of the scam.
With the arrest of Hussain, the authorities have intensified their efforts to gather further information and evidence pertaining to the PMFBY scam. This marks an important milestone in the investigation, and the police are determined to conduct a thorough and comprehensive inquiry to unveil the truth behind the fraudulent activities surrounding the scheme.
The case remains ongoing as officials continue to delve deeper into the intricate web of the PMFBY scam, aiming to bring all involved individuals to justice and prevent any further misuse of public funds.
