Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has emphasised the need for the complete implementation of the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Act 2021. On Friday, he directed all state departments to digitise their services and establish clear EoDB rules to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on the state’s EoDB reforms, Mein stressed the importance of delivering services in a timely manner. He also called for stringent actions under the Citizen Services Delivery Acts in case of any delays or failures in service execution.
The deputy chief minister urged government departments to adopt a proactive approach in identifying and eliminating procedural roadblocks that hinder business operations. "A business-friendly environment is crucial for attracting investments and fostering economic growth," he stated in an official release. The review meeting was held with the objective of enhancing the overall business climate in Arunachal Pradesh.
Commitment to Investor-Friendly Regulations
Planning and Investment Secretary R.K. Sharma reiterated the state's commitment to creating an investor-friendly regulatory framework. He highlighted that the EoDB Act 2021 mandates integrating all departmental services into the EoDB portal, a move aimed at improving transparency and streamlining processes.
Providing insights into the state’s progress, Arunachal Pradesh Innovation & Investment Park CEO, Tabe Haidar, gave a detailed presentation on the status of EoDB implementation. He noted that Arunachal Pradesh had been recognised as an 'Aspirer' in the Centre's EoDB rankings and was awarded the title of 'Most Improved Small State in Governance' by India Today.
Haidar also emphasised a major milestone—Arunachal Pradesh becoming the first Northeastern state to integrate with the national single-window system. "The state’s EoDB portal is now generating revenue, demonstrating the effectiveness of our digital transition," he remarked.
Key Decisions and Future Plans
Several important decisions were taken during the meeting to enhance the business ecosystem in the state. These included the implementation of the Reduction of Compliance Burden framework and making it mandatory for all departmental services to be onboarded onto the EoDB portal.
Additionally, the government decided to create a land bank to attract investments and draft a comprehensive investment policy. Departments were instructed to gradually phase out manual processes by conducting necessary training and awareness campaigns, ensuring a seamless transition to a fully digital governance system.
The meeting saw the participation of several high-ranking state government officials, who expressed their commitment to executing the proposed reforms effectively. The Arunachal Pradesh government aims to position the state as a favorable destination for investors by eliminating bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing the ease of business operations.
