In the last 48 hours, approximately 170 Pakistanis have been sent back from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and other countries. Upon their arrival in Karachi, 24 Pakistanis were taken into custody. Geo News, citing immigration sources, reported that Saudi authorities had deported 94 Pakistanis in the past 48 hours for various offences, including drug trafficking, illegal residency, blacklisting, begging, working without a sponsor, fleeing from work, and contract violations.
Additionally, deportees included three individuals from Oman, one from Thailand, nine from Iraq, one each from the UK and Cyprus, four from Indonesia, and five from Mauritania, all suspected of involvement in human smuggling.
Additionally, one Pakistani was deported from Tanzania, and two others were sent back from Qatar due to insufficient travel funds. Over the past two days, 39 Pakistanis convicted of crimes and other violations were deported from the UAE, according to a report by Geo News.
The report also stated that the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) identified seven of the deportees as being on a blacklist. Authorities confirmed that several of them were involved in financial and immigration-related offences.
According to the Geo News report, officials removed 59 passengers from flights bound for 21 countries, including the UK, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar and Malawi, due to issues with their visas and travel documents.
In addition, 21 Umrah pilgrims were not offloaded, but others were barred from flying because of insufficient lodging arrangements and financial constraints. Four students with study visas for Cyprus and one traveller heading to the UK were also prevented from boarding. After his asylum request was denied, another passenger travelling to Italy was removed from the flight.
According to a Geo News report, some passengers were stopped from travelling to countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal, Iraq, and Turkey. Additionally, four individuals from Oman were denied boarding, including one who was on a blacklist.
Meanwhile, Karachi Airport’s FIA Immigration Unit detained four women holding Umrah visas on suspicion of being trafficked for forced labour in Saudi Arabia. Authorities suspected the involvement of a trafficking network, as the women had previously travelled to Saudi Arabia, Geo News reported, citing the FIA.
