Mariano Caucino, the Ambassador of Argentina to India, has highlighted the strong and growing relationship between the two countries. He stated that "Argentina and India enjoy a very elevated degree of complementarity" and noted that India has become the sixth-largest economic partner of Argentina.
Speaking at a recent diplomatic conclave organised by Woxsen University in Hyderabad, Caucino pointed to the steady rise in economic engagement between the two nations. He emphasised that "our countries maintain a growing economic interaction stemming from the objective complementarity between our economies", underlining how both economies support each other through their strengths.
The ambassador also referred to the progress made since the relationship was upgraded. He said, "since elevating our relationship to the status of strategic partners in 2019, we have significantly increased the volume of our economic and trade ties". This reflects a consistent effort from both sides to deepen cooperation and expand trade.
Caucino highlighted Argentina’s role in supporting India’s needs in key sectors. He explained, "Argentina is already contributing to food security but can also contribute to India's energy security". His statement shows the potential for broader collaboration beyond existing trade areas.
He also acknowledged India’s growing influence on the global stage. According to him, India is becoming a decisive actor in today’s world and is attracting increasing attention from countries across the globe.
In terms of trade, Argentina has emerged as India’s main supplier of edible oils. At the same time, cooperation in critical minerals is gaining importance and is expected to become a key area of strategic partnership between the two nations.
