An Open Letter to the GOP: You Had a Brilliant Opportunity, BUT..

You Essentially Blew It ...!
You had the chance to embrace Hindu Indian Americans — one of the most law-abiding, educated, assimilated, high-achieving, and patriotic micro-minorities in this country. Not welfare dependent, not harming communities, not begging for handouts. There were NO red carpets rolled out for us. No shortcuts. We did not come from wealth. We worked hard for it. Yet the hate we experienced under your banner was astonishing...to say the least.
It's been more than a year since I strongly argued for Hindus to vote for Trump - and today, I write with a heavy heart and deep disappointment. We voted, supported, and campaigned for conservative values. I personally founded #Hindusandtrump and #IExit - Indian Exit Left.
In Wisconsin, I reached out to our GOP party leadership repeatedly, offering collaboration, bridge-building, and genuine partnership. Every time, I was met with silence. A LONG, DEAFENING SILENCE.
Instead of a partnership, we received prejudice. The radical, racist, militant MAGA cult (the groupers, the wignats, the Bible-thumping Christian supremacist evangelicals) turned on legal Hindu Indian Americans.
Political Messaging Quickly Shifted From Common Sense to Racial Targeting
You promised to go after illegals, especially violent criminal illegals. Instead, you targeted the lawful, law-abiding micro-minorities. You exaggerated certain incidents to justify your venom and to unfairly cast blame and hostility on an entire community.
Authoritarianism Disguised as Patriotism
Consider this: 71.5% of total Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests, detentions and deportations involved no criminal convictions, and over 93% deportations involving convictions are non-violent. A small population of ≈ 2–3% were violent criminals among the deported people. Add the risk of government mass surveillance, emboldened state policing power and government overreach - we are suddenly staring at authoritarianism, fascism and ethnic cleansing disguised as patriotism and nationalism. Glaring hypocrisy. This is betrayal and a violation of a campaign promise. Not policy.
The H-1B Myth and The Hindu Target
Let us examine the H1B visa chaos propped up by the radical MAGA faction of the GOP Republican Party.
Myth of H1B visa and the Hindu Target
- Total H-1B visa issued: 3.3 million (0.98%)
- Active H-1B visa 650,000 (0.19%)
- Fraud cases 65,000 (0.02%)
Roughly 72-75% of these go to ethnically brown Indian professionals, many of them are Hindus. Yet, your establishment politicians and influencers labelled them scammers and thieves. You began a vicious campaign promoting a narrative that H1B is a scam. Worst yet, you are now propagating, these immigrants are not skilled at all, but stealing American jobs. And suddenly, the entire community of skilled immigrants are somehow fraudsters, thieves, scammers and job-stealers.
I presented the danger of Hinduphobia, racial profiling, institutional discrimination, declining civil liberties and creeping violence in our country — and still, you looked away.
Our own Wisconsin GOP Congressman, Tom Tiffany, targeted H-1B workers in the University of Wisconsin System. He recently announced his campaign for the Wisconsin Gubernatorial race. I spoke to him about the serious matter briefly - expressing my concern around targeting a tiny, peaceful, productive minority. As the Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis recently did, I am extremely concerned that Mr. Tiffany would target this tiny minority population if elected as the WI governor. I particularly do not understand the rationale behind this targeted belittling of the Hindu Indian immigration population, and I requested further deliberation. I shall elaborate if I witness any progress on this matter with Mr. Tiffany.
The GOP, Groypers, Wignats, Bible-Thumping Christian supremacist evangelicals ended up targeting the micro-minority Hindu community. Loudly. Proudly. Viciously. Violently. Brown Hindus are 1.1% of the American population. We contribute. We are not begging for your mercy. Why are you so afraid of us?
