Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah alleged that the Congress party's manifesto pledges to uphold religious personal laws. In a sharp criticism directed at Rahul Gandhi, Shah asserted that the Congress leader aims to enforce Sharia law nationwide.
Amit Shah, addressing ANI, urged voters to support a party committed to the nation's security, prosperity, and the welfare of the underprivileged. He stated that following the release of the Congress manifesto, public support for the BJP has surged further. Shah attributed this to the Congress manifesto's repetition of its historical trend of appeasement.
Amit Shah asserted that the Congress manifesto discusses advancing personal laws. "I pose a question to Rahul Gandhi, Is the country now set to operate under Sharia law?" Shah continued, emphasising that the nation's Constitution is secular, and legislation cannot be based on religious grounds.
He highlighted that the BJP has committed to introducing the Uniform Civil Code in its election manifesto. Amit Shah reaffirmed that the BJP has explicitly stated in its manifesto its intention to introduce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He emphasised, "We abolished Triple Talaq and initiated the UCC, and we are committed to advancing this initiative,"
Shah criticised Rahul Gandhi's call for personal law, stating that it aims to create division within the nation. He stressed that implementing personal law in India is not feasible.
Earlier this week, PM Modi's statement alleging Congress promised to distribute wealth among those with many children sparked controversy. The Election Commission issued a notice to the BJP after Opposition complaints of poll rule violations. BJP president J P Nadda must respond to complaints from Congress, CPI, and CPI (ML).
JP Nadda stated that Congress and its allies aim to deprive marginalised communities of their rights and allocate them to Muslims.
"In a video statement on X, JP Nadda asserted that the hidden agenda of the Congress and INDI Alliance is to take away the rights of SC, ST, OBC communities and transfer them to Muslims," he stated.
Nadda highlighted that while Congress claims the primary entitlement to the country's resources belongs to Muslims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserts it belongs to the poor.
