Former US President Donald Trump, who is running for re-election in the 2024 US elections, has refused to dismiss the possibility of violence akin to the Capitol riots occurring if he were to lose the election.
In an interview with Time magazine, Trump, when asked about the possibility of physical violence in case he faces defeat in the November elections, said, "I don't think we're going to have that. I think we're going to win."
When asked "what if you don't win?," Trump evasively answered, "If we don't win, you know, it depends. It always depends on the fairness of an election."
This comes as, once again, he alleged election "rigging".
On Tuesday, Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to accuse Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over his hush money trial in Manhattan, of "rigging" the 2024 election. This accusation follows Judge Merchan's ruling that the former president had breached a gag order related to the case.
"This Judge has taken away my Constitutional Right to FREE SPEECH. I am the only Presidential Candidate in History to be GAGGED," wrote Trump.
"This whole 'Trial' is RIGGED, and by taking away my FREEDOM OF SPEECH, THIS HIGHLY CONFLICTED JUDGE IS RIGGING THE PRESIDENTIAL OF 2024 ELECTION. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!" he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, the judge determined that Trump's posts on Truth Social were in breach of a gag order that had been imposed last month.
The office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had accused Trump of violating the order on 14 occasions since it was put in place. Having found Donald Trump in breach of the order on nine separate instances through his social media posts, he was ordered to pay a total of $9,000 in fines, equating to $1,000 per violation.
On Tuesday, a filing revealed that Trump has increased his ownership in Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind his social media platform Truth Social, to nearly 65 percent. According to Reuters, the Republican presidential candidate acquired 36 million shares of TMTG last week.
