The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, has decided to postpone its plans to unveil the new emblem of the state government and the statue of Telangana Talli (Mother Telangana), an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office stated. This decision comes amid criticism from the Opposition.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Reddy, which included representatives from various political parties. Notably, representatives from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen were absent from the meeting.
Initially, the state government had scheduled the unveiling of the new emblem, Telangana Talli statue, and Telangana state anthem for June 2 as part of the Telangana formation day celebrations.
Revanth Reddy stated that his government had undertaken numerous initiatives as part of the state's rebuilding process.
Regarding the new Telangana emblem, the chief minister mentioned that the government had received approximately 500 samples from artists. "All the designs are still under discussion, and no design has been finalised yet," Reddy informed.
He added that a final decision had not been made regarding the Telangana Talli statue. "The government will make a final decision on the Telangana emblem and Telangana Talli statue only after discussion in the assembly. This will eliminate any scope for misconceptions and false propaganda," he stated. He further mentioned, "The government is formulating an action plan to uphold Telangana's prestige and inspire future generations."
However, Revanth Reddy confirmed that the state anthem, "Jaya Jayahe Telangana," has been approved and will be released on June 2.
"There are two versions of the song – the complete version lasts 13.30 minutes, while the shorter version is 2.30 minutes. The government is already arranging for the state formation day celebrations to be conducted on a grand scale. The state song will be unveiled during the festivities," Reddy added.
Meanwhile, the opposition BRS announced on Thursday that it would stage protests against the alleged attempt by the Congress government to remove Charminar and the ‘Kakatiya arch’ from the state emblem.
K T Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, visited Charminar along with other party leaders, affirming that Charminar is the identity of Hyderabad. “We oppose the Congress government’s endeavour to eliminate Charminar and the Kakatiya arch from the official logo of Telangana,” he stated.
