American drone manufacturer Powerus signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Army. The deal includes an initial drone-related order, according to co-founder Brett Velicovich. Specific details remain undisclosed due to security sensitivities. The financial value of the contract remains confidential. Velicovich confirmed the agreement falls under unmanned aerial systems. This development marks a major step in defence collaboration between both sides.

Powerus designs aerial and maritime drones for defence and commercial sectors. The firm plans to merge with Aureus Greenway Holdings in early October. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump hold financial stakes in Aureus through American Ventures. Filings show the fund will hold a 9.9 per cent stake in the combined entity.

A Powerus delegation led by Velicovich met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir recently. They held talks on defence procurement, production, and long-term capacity building. Pakistan’s military released a statement confirming the meeting. However, the official military statement omitted any direct mention of the memorandum. The military media wing offered no immediate comment.

This deal coincides with improving relations between Washington and Islamabad. US President Donald Trump previously praised army chief Munir publicly. Meanwhile, Pakistan pursues stronger economic, financial, and military ties with the United States. Andrew Fox, founder and chief executive of Powerus, noted Pakistan’s private defence sector remains emerging, creating opportunities for American defence companies to expand operations rapidly.

Velicovich outlined plans for regional expansion and technology transfer. "The goal would be a joint technology relationship, pairing best-in-breed technology from the US with best-in-breed technology from Pakistan," Velicovich said. He added that Powerus evaluates potential manufacturing operations inside Pakistan.

Fox rejected claims that political connections influenced the commercial contract. He stated business growth relies strictly on product merit. He emphasised the Trump sons have "no involvement on the business side" of the operations.

A spokesman for Donald Trump Jr. clarified his indirect position in the business. "Don has no involvement whatsoever in the management or operations of Powerus and plays absolutely no role in the procurement of contracts in the United States or abroad," the spokesperson said. "He had no prior knowledge of this deal and had no involvement of any kind in its negotiation, procurement or execution." Eric Trump did not respond to the news.

White House Special Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly addressed potential ethics questions directly. "There are no conflicts of interest," Kelly said.
