The Allahabad High Court has approved an application requesting the appointment of a commission to conduct a survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque complex. This complex, believed by Hindu petitioners to have been constructed on the site of Bhagwan Sri Krishna's birth, is a focal point in the ongoing Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi case.
Advocate Ranjana Agnihotri, representing the petitioners, confirmed the court's decision, stating, "Our plea for the appointment of a commission to conduct a thorough survey of the site has been granted. Additional details will be made available upon the official upload of the court order."
Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, stated, "We insisted on the need for an advocate commissioner to assess the numerous signs and symbols within the Shahi Idgah Mosque and determine the accurate factual position. The court has granted approval to our application."
Emphasizing the need for an advocate commissioner to determine the Shahi Idgah Masjid's alignment with Hindu temple signs and symbols, lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain hailed the court's decision as a landmark judgment. On November 16, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain reserved the order on the application.
Vishnu Shankar Jain stated that the Allahabad High Court has approved their application, which sought a survey of the Shahi Idgah Masjid by an advocate commissioner.
The Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura is of historical significance as it was built on the orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, in close proximity to the Krishna Janmasthal. This site is believed to be the birthplace of Bhagwan Sri Krishna, and the mosque was constructed demolishing a pre-existing temple. The court's decision marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the contested religious site.
The Hindu side contends that the Idgah mosque, allegedly constructed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb after demolishing a temple, occupies 13.37 acres of Bhagwan Sri Krishna's birthplace. The primary lawsuit addressing this claim is currently pending in the High Court.
Within the High Court, a total of 17 suits await resolution, primarily seeking a declaration that the disputed land, housing the Shahi Idgah Mosque, is the property of the deity Bhagwan Shri Krishna Virajman. Additionally, these suits request a directive for the defendant to remove the mosque.
