Hindu organisations in the United Kingdom have launched "The Hindu Manifesto UK 2024" ahead of the scheduled general elections on July 4. Released on June 8, the manifesto calls for the recognition of anti-Hindu hate as a religious hate crime and outlines seven key demands for parliamentary candidates and the incoming government.
In addition to calling for the recognition of anti-Hindu hate as a religious hate crime, the manifesto outlines six other demands. These include safeguarding places of Hindu worship, ensuring equitable access to education, advocating for equal representation and opportunities for Hindus, improving the efficiency of immigration, healthcare, and social care systems, and acknowledging and protecting dharmic values.
Hindu organisations have stated that the manifesto has garnered support from numerous parliamentary candidates. According to a statement, the manifesto represents a unified voice of the UK Hindu community, with representatives from diverse backgrounds and regions rallying behind its seven assurances.
The document urges all candidates to endorse and support the Hindu community in their respective constituencies.
Earlier this year, more than 200 Hindu groups in the UK celebrated the consecration of a Bhagwan Ram idol in Ayodhya, expressing their desire for the UK to officially acknowledge the event. The groups highlighted that this milestone signified the culmination of five centuries of dedicated efforts.
The celebration of the consecration of the Bhagwan Ram idol in Ayodhya by UK Hindu groups underscores their commitment to cultural heritage and religious significance. It reflects a desire for broader recognition of Hindu traditions and contributions within the UK, fostering unity and community spirit among supporters.
