A day after Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau spoke to UAE President about India and the “importance of upholding law, the PM on Monday spoke on the same lines and discussed India with King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.
According to the Canadian government, during the talks Trudeau provided an update on the situation between Canada and India, underscoring the importance of “respecting the rule of law and the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations".
In what can be termed as a fresh provocation, Trudeau had earlier sparked tension with his social post about the “importance of upholding and respecting the rule of law".
In a post on X, Trudeau said he held a phone call with UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed and discussed the ongoing crisis with India and the importance of upholding the rule of law.
During Monday’s talks with Jordan king, Prime Minister Trudeau “unequivocally condemned Hamas’ large-scale attacks against Israel, and he reaffirmed that Canada fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself".
Trudeau also mentioned that his government has noted the atrocities that have been committed in the war between Israel and Hamas and that Canada is in touch with its international partners to monitor the situation and restore peace and security in the region.
The relations between both the countries are seeing an all-time low after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged, in his Parliament, the involvement of a “foreign agent" in the killing of Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
He even claimed that he had intelligence inputs and evidence that the Indian government could be behind Nijjar’s death.
Nijjar was killed by unidentified gunmen outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, Canada, on June 18. He was the chief of banned Khalistan Tiger Force, and was designated a terrorist by the Indian government under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in 2020. Interpol had also issued red corner notice against him quite a few times, the first one being in 2016.
