According to reports, AAP member Sanjay Singh has been suspended from Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the monsoon session of Parliament. The motion for his suspension was initiated by Union Minister and Leader of the House, Piyush Goyal. Chairman Jagadeep Dhankhar sought the approval of the House for the motion, stating that Sanjay Singh's suspension was a result of "repeatedly violating directions of the Chair."

AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the decision to suspend Sanjay Singh was unfortunate. “If Sanjay Singh is suspended for raising his voice for the truth, then we are not upset… But this is unfortunate”

During the Rajya Sabha session, Sanjay Singh and other opposition members insisted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement concerning the Manipur issue. However, as their demand was not accepted, and the Question Hour began, Sanjay Singh proceeded to the Well of the House in an attempt to emphasize his request.

Union minister and Leader of the House, Piyush Goyal, put forward a motion to suspend Sanjay Singh, citing his behavior of entering the Well of the House and disrupting the proceedings, which was considered a violation of parliamentary ethics and rules. Goyal urged the chair to take appropriate action against Sanjay Singh and proposed a motion for his suspension for the remaining duration of the session.

Following Dhankhar's permission to move the motion, Piyush Goyal stated, "I move the motion that Sanjay Singh, who has been named by the chair, be hereby suspended from the rest of the duration of the session until the last day of this current session."

The chairman said, “The motion is that Sanjay Singh is suspended for the entire duration of this session having repeatedly violated the directives of the chair” and asked the House if it approved it. The House approved the motion by raising hands and with a voice vote.

It is worth noting that AAP's Sanjay Singh faced a suspension on July 27th last year due to "unruly behavior." The suspension occurred after he threw papers at the Chair during a discussion on the hooch tragedy in Gujarat's Botad district.
