On Tuesday, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský met with Kalon Norzin Dolma, Minister for the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration on the sidelines of the ongoing G20 foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi.
Jan Lipavský also met Lobsang Shastri, Representative at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi and Bureau Secretary Dhundup Gyalpo, who accompanied Kalon Norzin.
Following the meeting with the Tibetan delegates, the Czech Foreign Minister tweeted, “During my visit to India, it was a pleasure to meet again with representatives of Tibetans in exile during my visit to India. The friendship between Václav Havel and His Holiness the Dalai Lama lives on”. Lipavský was referring to the close friendship that existed between former Czech President Vaclav Havel and the Dalai Lama.
Lobsang Shastri commented on the meeting saying it was a productive exchange of views on mutual priorities.
“We are deeply encouraged by the continued support of the Czech Republic for Tibet and the Tibetan people”, he added.
In an interview with WION's diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal on Monday, Lipavský slammed China saying, "I think the biggest challenge in the Pacific is China and its economic superpower. It's becoming a military superpower and we need to be ready to be looking for ways how to have to approach it. I think India understands this very, very well. I think Europe understand this quite well'.'
On Chinese aggressive actions on India's northern borders, he said, "we need to be respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries' internationally recognized borders", explaining, "So if China commits such acts, I will condemn such acts from China so I don't want to make a general statement. But specifically, this is quite clear".
