A landmine explosion in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector earlier today injured at least six soldiers, according to news agency PTI.
Around 10:45 am, a soldier accidentally stepped on a landmine, causing an explosion. The injured were quickly taken to a nearby hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable. The forward areas close to the Line of Control (LoC) are dotted with landmines and are a component of an anti-infiltration barrier system, officials further disclosed.
The potential of unintentional explosions is increased because these mines, which are intended to stop infiltrators, might occasionally be moved by intense rains. This horrific event comes after another recent accident in the Bandipore district of Jammu and Kashmir.
On January 4, an Army truck went off the road and plunged down a hill close to the Sadar Koot Payen district, killing four troops and injuring three more. The vehicle was negotiating a steep curve when the collision happened. Numerous injured people are still in critical condition.
