4 Army jawans dead in firing inside Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, cops rule out terror angle

Four army jawans of an artillery unit succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the firing incident at Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, the Indian Army said as quoted by ANI.
It added that the area has been sealed off and joint investigations with Punjab Police are being coordinated to establish the facts of the case. Army said that all aspects including the possible case of involvement of an INSAS rifle along with 28 rounds reported missing two days back are being ascertained.
Of the 28 missing bullets 19 have been recovered (the rifle is still missing), Ajay Gandhi, the senior police official investigating the incident, told reporters.
The four jawans have been identified as Gunners Sagar Banne (25), Kamalesh R (24), Yogeshkumar J (24) and Santosh M Nagaral (25).
Punjab MLA Anmol Gagan Maan said the firing was a "matter of internal fight". She added that she has spoken to the Punjab Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and investigations are underway.
The firing incident was reported in the early hours of Wednesday inside Bathinda Military Station in Punjab.
As per a statement by HQ SW Command, the firing took place at around 4:35 am and the Station Quick Reaction teams were activated while the area has been cordoned off and sealed.
The Punjab Police has registered a case against two unidentified men under the Arms Act for allegedly being responsible for opening fire inside the station.
