In its another hostile move during the ongoing conflicts with Gaza, Israel launched an airstrike on the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip which killed at least 33 Palestinians on Friday evening, according to the Hamas-run Gaza government media office.
The death toll may reach 50 as many victims were buried beneath houses and debris. At least 21 women were among the deceased. According to a media office statement quoted by the Xinhua news agency, the bombing injured over 85 individuals, while many of them have sustained severe injuries.
It also said that the Israeli army bombed a number of houses in the Jabalia camp. However, the event has not yet prompted a response from the Israeli army. Approximately 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage during a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which prompted Israel to launch a massive attack against the group in the Gaza Strip.
Gaza-based health authorities stated in a statement Friday that 42,500 Palestinians had been killed in continuing Israeli assaults in the Gaza Strip. Most victims of the recent IDF strike in Jabalya, northern Gaza, are reportedly women and children.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, raising the daily truck allowance to 250. Additionally, three soldiers in northern Israel were seriously wounded, along with two others in northern Gaza. The IDF also successfully shot down an aerial target originating from Syria. Both US President Biden and the IDF believe that the death of Sinwar creates favourable conditions for a potential hostage deal.
