On Monday, three Khalistani terrorists were killed in a shootout with police in the Pilibhit area of Uttar Pradesh. Gurvinder Singh, 25, Virender Singh, also known as Ravi, 23 and Jaspreet Singh, also known as Pratap Singh, 18, were accused of throwing grenades into a police station in the Gurdaspur area of Punjab.
The killed persons were the members of the Khalistan Commando Force, a banned organisation. Two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and several live bullets were also taken from the suspects by the police following the altercation. The Punjab Police team informed the Pilibhit Police that three accused individuals were in an area under the Puranpur police station's jurisdiction. Acting on this information, an operation was launched. The police also received a tip-off about three men carrying suspicious items in Puranpur.
According to the source, the three suspects were killed in an encounter that started early on Monday after police trapped them. "The accused fired at the police team on being challenged and in the retaliatory firing, they were killed. The joint operation was conducted by teams of Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police. The Punjab Police team also told us about their foreign connections. A probe has been launched into the entire incident," a senior official of the Pilibihit Police stated in a media statement.
An explosion is said to have taken place at the abandoned police station in the Kalanaur subdivision of the Gurdaspur district earlier on Saturday, December 21. However, no life nor property was harmed in the attack that occurred during a period of increased police vigilance.
