Ever since 2G Scam Verdict has been announced there is palpable unrest and anger not just amongst supporters of Modi Government but also well-meaning citizens who had seen largest financial scam of our times unfold in front of them. The verdict led to more questions than answers. Was no one responsible for the humongous scam? Did the scam even happen? If it did happen then why is no one guilty? Why did the trial court undermine Supreme Court? And then the question that looms larger than any other question. What did Narendra Modi who rode to victory on the narrative of clean governance constantly questioning gargantuan scams of UPA do when he came to office? These questions will be asked for a long time. Here we present a series of tweets done by Kartikeya Tanna who has been breaking down the legalese on 2G scam for a long time so that ordinary people can understand the complexities of the case. Here he comprehensively answers why Modi Government couldn’t do anything to influence the case once it had already been botched by the Congress led UPA Government.
My bullet point analysis of what happened today in #2GScamVerdict:
— Kartikeya Tanna (@KartikeyaTanna) December 21, 2017
1) The case was already "rafa dafa" before @narendramodi took charge. It is amply clear from the judgment itself.
2) In their depositions, DoT officials contradicted the material on record or feigned ignorance 1/n
3) Even available DoT records & files were indecipherable as Saini J. observes. No head/tail, pages missing, records incomplete, placed elsewhere etc.

4) I'll reserve my comments about quality of representation by Special Prosecutor Anand Grover. Judge Saini tho is scathing 3/n
5) There are some faults with the judgment. Some facts not duly considered. However, criminal law requires proving charges "beyond reasonable doubt". Those facts must be corroborated with testimonies and other evidence which was not forthcoming as mentioned in (2) & (3) above 4/n

6) Many in @INCIndia and their stooges already declaring there was never a scam. The 'zero loss' theorists are out from hiding.

7) What public understands yet again is that, in our system, it is easy for the powerful to get away. Smugness of Congress won't go unnoticed 5/n
6) Saini J. makes a scathing remark on who misled former PM Manmohan Singh. He infers it was Pulok Chatterji (first pic). A primer on who Pulok Chatterji is and who he has been in proximity to (second pic). Former Officer on Special Duty to Sonia Gandhi. 6/n pic.twitter.com/jx9N108H2A

7) "But what did Modi government do for 3.5 years? Why did it not build a case?" Here's why:
— Kartikeya Tanna (@KartikeyaTanna) December 21, 2017
a) Case was already built before @narendramodi was PM. Court didn't allow CBI to submit additional evidence post-2014. Why? Under UPA, CBI submitted evidence FOURTEEN times. See this 7/n pic.twitter.com/fwV2h2ILeQ
b) The prosecution of the 2G scam was entrusted to Special Public Prosecutor appointed by SC. First it was UU Lalit who is now SC judge. Anand Grover was then appointed. The Centre could not have interfered with the prosecution which had to remain autonomous & independent. 8/n

One example of how Special Public Prosecutor Anand Grover's representation was found wanting. 9/n pic.twitter.com/9cBZmuwCXa

Have to reiterate what the Court observed in regards to who misled former PM Manmohan Singh. I made the point in 6/n above. Pulok Chatterji in the PMO, someone whose proximity to Sonia Gandhi is rather long.

No one in MSM mentioned it even in passing. 10/n
