Officials said that up to 258 Pakistanis had been deported from seven nations, including China, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in the past 24 hours.
A spokesperson from the Immigration department at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport stated that out of the total, 14 people had Pakistani passports, while 244 were sent back using emergency travel documents. “We arrested 16 deportees at the Karachi airport, including one with a suspicious identity, while the rest were released after questioning,” he said.
He mentioned that nine of the people deported from Saudi Arabia were professional beggars. Two of them had been caught performing Hajj without proper permits and were sent back after serving their sentences. He also stated that many of those deported from Saudi Arabia and the UAE were working without sponsorship, while four were deported due to drug-related charges. An individual from each of the following countries—China, Qatar, Indonesia, Cyprus and Nigeria—was deported.
The trend of deportations has been increasing rapidly, according to reports. In the last 24 hours, the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Immigration Cell also stopped 35 passengers at Karachi airport who were headed to various countries. Passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia on an Umrah visa were offloaded because they did not have hotel bookings in advance and lacked enough funds for their expenses. Due to the lack of appropriate work visa documentation, passengers who wished to enter Saudi Arabia on a work visa were deported. The police emphasised that in order to prevent similar events, travellers must make sure they have all the necessary paperwork, the appropriate visas, reservations in advance, and enough money.
