An unfortunate accident occurred in Seelampur in the northeastern part of Delhi, after a 17-year-old boy was brutally stabbed in the late hours of Thursday night. According to sources, the victim was attacked by some Muslim youths over an old personal dispute. The anger in the population has been such that now they are out in the streets demanding speedy actions against the perpetrators. They demand the "Yogi Adityanath model" of justice.
The murder allegedly occurred when the teenager stepped out to get milk and was surrounded and stabbed by four to five attackers. He was rushed to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries while being treated. According to Delhi police, the suspects are known to the victim and belong to a different community. Authorities are looking into CCTV footage and are trying to determine whether the attackers were adults or minors. A case of murder was registered at the Seelampur police station.
Public Outrage and Protests
The locality blocked interior roads in protests over the killing. In fact, a majority of the people have shown messages outside the house saying “This house is for sale,” “Hindu exodus,” and “Yogi ji help us,” invoking the help of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Some posters even demanded “bulldozer action” in Seelampur, a particular demolition reference widely used against UP.
The unrest has triggered the deployment of paramilitary forces and additional police to help control the situation, which remains tense due to its sensitive communal nature.
Victim's Family Seeks Justice
The mother of the boy said the attack happened out of a feud that she openly denounced against someone else. "They took out someone else's grudge on my son. He had no hostility with anyone," she added. "I was just about to sell the house and leave. Did not think my son would be the one to go."
The victim's father Rajbir Singh, works as an auto-rickshaw driver. He saw the incident. "I saw four to five boys stabbing my son. Many Hindu families have already left, and more are going to," he said. He mentioned a youth called Sahil being one of the attackers and also mentioned a girl named Zikra, who was seen nearby during the attack. Rajbir also alleged that Zikra had threatened his son previously.
Rumours of Zikra
Zikra is well known in the area for making videos on social media and has reportedly earned the nickname “Lady Don”. Police interrogated Zikra, but have not found any direct involvement related to the murder and released her after questioning.
CM Gets Involved
In a statement by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta has assured the public, “No stone will be left unturned in pursuit of justice”. She further added that she has been in touch with the police commissioner and confirmed that the names of the accused were already known to them. "Police are on the job. Justice will be given to the family," she said.
The police reported the timeline and progress of the investigation. "A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the Seelampur area. A case has been registered, teams are at work to identify and arrest the culprits, and an investigation is underway," said the press statement.
Profile of the Victim
The boy had been living with his parents, three brothers, and a sister in Seelampur. He was working in a garment shop in Gandhi Nagar, and on the night of the incident, he had gone to buy some milk for a few minutes when he was attacked.
With the situation still tense, the Delhi Police and central forces are keeping a close watch on the developments to prevent any further escalation.
