Amidst the ongoing election season in India, police officials reported that multiple schools in the Delhi-NCR received bomb threats.
Media reports indicate that a total of 13 schools have received bomb threats, with six schools being identified so far. These schools include Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School in Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Delhi Public School in Noida, Amity International School in Pushp Vihar, and Amity International School in Saket.
Other schools have also implemented precautionary measures for the safety of students. According to sources speaking to India Today TV, the school premises were evacuated, and students were promptly sent home following the receipt of the threat.
According to a message shared by a parent, Cambridge School in Noida has chosen to send students home as a precautionary measure. The message reassures parents that the school has not received any bomb threat mail or calls.
However, prioritising the safety and security of everyone, arrangements are being made to promptly send students home. Bus users will receive intimation shortly, and parents who wish to personally pick up their children are encouraged to do so.
According to an ANI report citing the Noida-based Delhi Public School's principal's office, students were promptly sent home as a precautionary measure. Delhi-NCR DCP South West Rohit Meena has disclosed that the same bomb threat email was sent to several schools around 4:15 am (IST).
Meena stated that checking is currently underway at all the schools, with the technical wing investigating the email. He emphasised that through the initial investigation, it appears to be a mass email. Meena urged students and parents to remain calm and avoid panicking, assuring that each school is being thoroughly checked and that the police are in contact with the school administration.
An investigation is currently underway regarding the matter. "Teams are conducting searches, and nothing suspicious has been discovered yet. The IP address from which the email originated is being investigated. The email was received early in the morning," stated DCP Dwarka in a media statement.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Atishi affirmed that government officials are maintaining constant communication with the Delhi Police and school authorities. She also urged parents not to panic.
Atishi stated in a post on X, "Some schools received bomb threats this morning. Students have been evacuated, and the premises are being searched by the Delhi Police. No suspicious items have been found in any of the schools so far. We are in constant communication with the police and the schools. I would urge parents and citizens not to panic. School authorities will remain in contact with parents as necessary."
In February of this year, Delhi Public School, RK Puram, received a bomb threat call. A search operation conducted by the police did not uncover anything suspicious.
